He first took the stage as the lead singer of The Esquires, a North Carolina band that built its reputation on energy, soul, and the kind of live shows that stay in memory long after the lights go down. Those early years gave him a performer’s insight — the long nights, the thrill of connecting with an audience, and the discipline of crafting songs that matter.
From there, Johnnie stepped into the business side of the industry. As Vice President of Insight Talent, he managed a roster of more than 200 regional bands while booking tours for national acts including Ike & Tina Turner, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Jackie Wilson, B.J. Thomas, Mary Wells, Johnny Rivers, and The Temptations. It was a role that demanded both vision and grit — bridging the gap between talent and opportunity.
Today, after a four decade career in the vacation industry, Johnnie has returned to the heart of what drew him to music in the first place: creating songs that fit his vision. Using cutting-edge AI, he writes, produces, and directs projects for his created personas like Mary Surreal, Nick Fable & The Pretenders, and Joleen Dreem. Each creation is guided by his lived experience in the music world and a meticulous attention to detail. Every note, every lyric, and every performance is selected by his hand — not to replace the artistry of musicians, but to channel his own.
